What is the biggest change in marketing that you see coming in the next 2 years?

With the advancement in video ads and platforms such as Tiktok getting more engagement than youtube, I see major changes in the way video ads are being delivered and how important the content strategy is.

What is the advantage to working with an outside media buyer as opposed to having just an internal marketing director?

Outside media buyers or agencies have a lot more experience with every aspect of the ad building and targeting cycle. They also have a huge advantage because they are immersed in it all day and have their finger on the pulse of what works and what doesnt. That type of knowledge is priceless when it comes to digital online marketing strategies. In fact every in house marketing manager should be partnered up with outside agencies to help up their game.

What is one tip that you would give when it comes to media planning?

When media planning preparation is key. There should be a huge emphasis on researching the marketing, competitors, trends etc. Our team spends most of the time researching then once have gathered all of the data necessary, thats when we pull the trigger on the ad building and targeting. This enables us to not have to “guess” and saves our clients a lot of ad spend that would otherwise be used to test.

How does a media buyer stay on top of trends with media placement?

I think the most effective way to stay on top of the media placement trends is to actually use the platforms that we market on. This is the only real way to understand the nuances and trends that the world pays their attention to. In addition to this is each platform is unique and have their own demographics so you have to understand what to use each platform for as they each have their own types of audiences.
